I know there was beef last season with Houston Rockets fans and Bonzi Wells. Granted Wells had his own beef with last years coach Jeff Van Gundy which resulted in reduced minutes for Bonzi. In Coach JVG’s defense though Bonzi didn’t exactly show up in shape when he arrived in Houston last year, much like Steve Francis did this year, which didn’t help him earn a spot in the rotation. I’ll be the first to admit to you that I was upset with Bonzi because I saw what he was capable of in that playoff game against San Antonio. Wells was not my favorite Rocket at last seasons end. And then changes began in the off season that pointed towards a way of redemption for Bonzi.

But new season, new slate. Houston Fans, meet the Bonzi Wells we should have met a year ago. What a stellar performance tonight, once more against the Spurs, with 14 points and 15 rebounds, earning his 29th career double double. I hope we can continue to count on Bonzi to come off the bench and produce each game.
